I'm having problems with sending a fax to UCSD

the number that ii need to send the fax to is 8585345459

and my area code is 714

it's supposed to work if ii just dial a 1 before the number i'm faxing to

but it says that i need a long distance business number ? or something like that

my friend told me to try dialing a nine before but that didn't work either

does anybody know what this is ?

  1. It looks like the number you're trying to dial is 858-534-5459.  The area code of this number is 858.  Your area code is 714.  You need both a 1 for long distance and the area code included in the call for the fax.  You should enter 1-858-534-5459 in your fax.  Your fax won't need the dashes, I just put them in for clarity.  Unless your calling from a business phone that requires a 9 or other digit for an outside line you don't need to worry about that.  The only other possibility I can see is that the phone line you're trying to use may be restricted from long distance calls.  Check to see if it is.
