i can do a round off backhandspring pretty much perfectly, but whenever i have to do a tuck after I freak out. I s***w up my round off so my backhandspring sucks. when i have to set for the tuck it ends up being really low. i know what to do for the skill, but it's like i just forget how to do it when i'm actually trying to throw it. any advice/suggestions on how to get it better?

  1. either don't think about it and just go for it, or tell yourself you're just doing a roundoff handspring and then go for the tuck

  2. ya i hate it wen ur trying 2 hit a trick u know u can do but 4 sum reason freak out wen u try n do it. im not in gymnastics, i call them tricks because when its done recreationally its called "tricking". cause wen i talk 2 gymnists they always yell at me 4 calling them tricks. lol. tricking is all commitment. i know u know tht. 4 back tucks u should go into it slower. when u r doing a hand assisted trick, going really fast helps but if u r throwing a tuck into ur combo, slow it down.

  3. practice handspring tucks usually with spotter

and ask you tumbling coach to spot you and jump as high as you can and ask them to tell you about when to tuck

practice round off back-handspring tuck jumps so you can get used to doing that move without actually flipping

  4. The first time just go for it. The more and more you do it the more you try to perfect it. Try lots of drills to make it better, like put a spring board in front of a squishy mat(the kind level fours vault on) And practice your setting.

  5. There are some drills and tutorials here that might help: http://aescougarcheer.com/Cheer101/tumbl...

For example, try doing a snap-down drill. Stack up some panel mats and do a handstand, then throw your feet to the floor and push off with your hands. When your feet land rebound _up_ and set for your tuck. If you don't want to connect the tuck at first, just do the jump up. But eventually you should add the tuck to the drill. Use a spotter until you are comfortable with that part of the drill.

Doing it in isolation like that will help build your confidence for adding it to the full pass. And quit freaking over it. Your problem is 99% mental. You _can_ do it. You know you can. So do it already! :^)
