Question:

Problems with the right side of my face/head?

Usually it doesn't come in the morning or during activity, but my right side of the face, particularly below the ear and in the vicinity of the temporal artery, is more sensitive, meaning I can feel it bulge out when i bite in as opposed to my left side-also I can feel it pulsate harder and it gives me a numb streak on my face-not the whole right side but part of it, running all the way down to the mouth-sometimes it just hurts-other times it twitches for less than a second when I get startled...what can this be? Please don't tell me to go see a doctor, I know its something I need to do, but any ideas I can pitch-KonstantinO

  1. Sounds like it could be the beginnings of Bell's Palsy or something called MASTITIS. MASTITIS is a swelling of the masseter muscles around the jaw and temporal area which are responsible for opening and closing the jaw- like when you are chewing. If it is Bell's Palsy , you really need to go to a doctor and he will most likely prescribe some steroids and Physical or Occupational therapy for Electrical stimulation to that area. Bell's palsy can leave 1 side of your face paralyzed if left untreated. Don't mess around, go see the Doctor. Iknow it's not what you wanted to hear, but it's the best course of action for you in this situation

  2. is it a clicking, pulsing, bulging in the jaw joint, itself??

sounds a lot like TMJ ...  can be very painful ...  physical therapy can help ...  a GP or dentist could tell you if there are more options ...  sounds a little like nerve pain or a pinched nerve which is also associated with TMJ
