Proceed Bee expected to win the Grade 3 $200,000 Connally Cup Turf on 28th January after being unsuccessful in the last five starts
Drawing from the sixth stall for the Grade 3 $200,000 Connally Cup Turf at Sam Houston Race Track on 28th January 2012 will be the six-year-old gelding of Bernstein out of Private Terms, Proceed Bee, contesting on a field of
six other horses. The weather conditions around the coast of Houston are a little uncertain as there have been forecasts for rain in the latter part of the week.
“We’ve been pointing him for this,” Becker said about the Connally. “We really want to run him on the turf there. We’ll see how the weather plays out. [But] I’ll run no matter what”.
The trainer Scott Becker is persistent upon, Proceed Bee racing regardless of the prevalent weather. The race will be over a distance of 1 1/8 miles.
The six-year-old won the $50,000 Prairie Bayou at the Turfway Park on 17thDecember 2011, and has raced over dirt, turf and synthetic surfaces throughout his racing career.
Proceed Bee’s arrival in Houston on 27th January, from Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, was followed by the confirmation of the entries for the Grade 3 $200,000 Connally Cup Turf on Wednesday.
He achieved a hat-trick back in 2010, by winning the Illinois Owners Stakes on 15th May at the Arlington Park followed by a victory in an allowance race over dirt for a mile in India on 15th June, and
the hat-trick race that complemented the first two victories was the Prairie Meadows Handicap on 24th July.
Through the five races that he participated in 2011, he was placed 3rd in two, and could win none. He came eighth in the Grade 1 Arlington Million on 13th August at the Arlington Park.
The Grade 3 $200,000 Connally Cup Turf would be his seasonal debut besides being his chance of striking a victory after almost a year’s gap, including a winless season of, 2011.
The rest of the lineup of the race includes And Music Came, Papaw Bodie, Dakota Gypsy, Col. Wright, Little Wagon and Ioya Bigtime.
Grade 3 $200,000 Connally Cup Turf is the richest of the Sam Houston’s annual meet, and would be the eighth race on a race card comprising of ten other races.
The trainer, Scott Becker has planned it out wisely only if Proceed Bee delivers upon expectations, there can be no other better way of beginning the new season.
