  1. Use about 1 part molasses and 4 parts water.  Mix it really well, then add yeast.  Depending on how much you want to make, you could use a large soup pot (stainless steel), a 5 gallon glass carboy (or cargirl!), a 30 gallon food grade plastic garbage can, or even a 60 gallon oak barrel.  Just make sure you clean the vessel really well, then neutralize the cleaning solution with citric acid, then rinse well again with water--this is all before you add the molasses/water solution.

  3. Just follow a mead recipe. The equipment is the same as for brewing beer or making wine.

    Are you planning to distill it to make rum? If so try using a turbo yeast for a better/higher alcohol production.
