Processer what programs should be runnimg what can I turn off,,?

I am running win xp 2 sp I have a lot of programs running .I want to just run the basics how what programs are necessary and what can I turn off..also I did a misconfig and shut off what I could in the start menue, but then I go to the processer and there are many things that I dont know what they are so what programs should be runnimg ? thank you

reboot and see whats running. also download sp3.

ctlr alt del? second tab (process) has everything thats running
