Processor Replacement?

ok... in the future i want to replace my Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz.

A friend of mine said replacing a Processor is kind of useless because you can only upgrade it in its own series which isn't that big of an improvement for the money.

Is this true? Or can you upgrade a processor to another series?

hahahah upgrade a QUAD????? u want the extreme or wut?,.....make sure u processor supports ur socket and chipset processor type

Ofcourse you can upgrade to another series, just ensure that your motherboard supports it and the vendor has the required processor available.
