i want to buy a dell inspiron 1525 at dell.com and when im choosing a proccesor they are all core two duo processors.

ex. Intel® Celeron® 550 (2.0GHz, 533Mhz, 1M L2 Cache) [Included in Price]

Intel® Pentium® Dual Core T2390 (1.86GHz/533Mhz FSB/1MB cache) [add $50 or $2/month1]

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5750 (2.00GHz/667Mhz FSB/2MB cache) [add $100 or $3/month1]

May delay your Inspiron 1525 ship date

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5850 (2.16GHz/667Mhz FSB/2MB cache) [add $150 or $5/month1]

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T8100 (2.1GHz/800Mhz FSB/3MB cache) [add $225 or $7/month1]

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T8300 (2.4GHz/800Mhz FSB/3MB cache) [add $275 or $9/month1]

what does the 2.4ghz/800mhz mean? and the fsb/3md cache mean?

how much do they affect the speed of the proccesor, and wich one is best for how much it costs. thanks

  1. If you're just surfing the web and checking email, then any of these will do, and you probably would not notice any difference. If you download movies all the time, and/or play 3D games, then you want the fastest one you can  get. As for the fsb (front side bus) and the cache, the higher numbers mean faster processing. The fsb is basically part of the connection between the processor and the rest of the pc (hard drive is a good example). If you have a fast cpu (brain) but the connection to other parts is slow, then the brain is always waiting to hear back from the other parts before it can continue processing. The cache is just another kind of memory just for the processor, and the larger it is, the more "memories" it can hold. Commonly used "instuctions" and locations can be kept, which will speed up processing.
