them, would you be supportive of a woman's choice to do so? Prochoice people know they are killing babies, if it was an insignificant group of cells they wouldn't bother having it removed from their bodies. There is no proof that this group of cells does not have a soul or feel pain.

  1. Based on this argument, we can say the same for animals you eat everyday.

Does a cow now feel pain?  Does it now bleed and hurt when killed?

What makes the cluster of cells better than a fully developed cow, chicken, or dolphin? (tuna)

If we are going to stop discriminating against fetuses, perhaps we should stop participating in the discrimination of species.

It's a very arrogant and human-centric view you got there... it's ok to kill other living things.. but not humans.

I don't advocate this.. I'm just saying that this goes along the lines of your thinking.

    ___

Lol.. what a come back.  Based on your argument of pain or soul who are you to judge what animal (including humans) has one?

  2. very intriguing question.  However, I will say that those who are "pro-choice" don't believe the baby is a baby until it's exited the womb.  But that being said, it is just as disturbing to hear/see of a dead baby as of someone in the process of killing a baby, so even if they didn't consider the abortion murder of a human baby, then what is it that is taken from thier bodies?  It would be a dead baby, and how did it die?  Isn't it funny that a baby is what you want it to be?  A woman who's tried for 6 months to get pregnant constantly is talking about her baby, not her group of cells or fetus.

  3. I would just like to serenity, don't assume that anyone pro-choice doesn't think it is a baby until it has exited the womb.

I am pro-choice but I believe there should be a very strict and early cap on when you can get an abortion.

  4. Uhm, deff not. Just b/c it's legal does NOT make it right

  5. take a look at Jim Wallis "God's Politics" for an alternative to both the pro life and pro choice stands.

And a message to some other posters:  I work in the mental health field,   I know some women who have had abortions, often because their doctors considered the pregnancy risky or thay did not thnik the women would be able to cope with a child.  There are major problems with adoption services in some areas.   Your comments about 'convenience' are way off base.

  6. Its very hard to have a debate on this when people involve religion, or at least spirituality (which you did by suggesting humans have souls).

That also then causes debate on the point above on do animals have souls etc.

Personally yes id support a mothers choice to do so, yes.

  7. I'm anti-abortion, but sorry, I'm not following your line of thinking at all. Please elaborate.

  8. I don't know, I don't think it should be legal once they're born, only because then you could make the argument that mothers should always be allowed to kill their babies, even if the baby is 59.

I always thought that the logic behind abortion was that a fetus is causing inconvenience for the pregnant woman because she has so much discomfort during pregnancy. So once the baby is born, if she doesn't want it, just put it up for adoption. You don't need to kill it. But if you don't want a fetus, you can't just give it away.

  9. Abortion and infanticide are two very different things.

You are comparing apples to won ton wrappers.

  10. The point of abortion is to avoid the pain, work, and social repercussions of pregnancy. If the baby is born, put it up for adoption, it'll be gone ten minutes after birth either way. So while I am pro choice, killing an already born baby is wrong.

And pro choice people are not killing babies, they are killing clumps of cells. Insignificant groups of cells also include ringworms, maggots, and cancer, but I bet you'd want those things removed if they were wriggling around inside you, wouldn't you? Not because of what they ARE, but because of what they WILL BE.

I agree with nothingconstant. A clump of cells may feel pain, but it is not human. Humans can speak. Humans are intelligent. If you took the 1month fetuses of 16 kinds of mammals, you wouldn't be able to tell a baby from a dog from a rabbit. Don't believe me? Look it up.

Cats feel as much pain as an unconscious fetus, and we euthanize them every single day.

Forget cats, people. Children starve every day in Africa, but people here still pop out 3 or four kids apeice because we want tiny babies that look like us, not to save the life of a sickly 4 year old.

Three dollars can feed a family of four for a month, but you still bought that 48 inch plasma screen tv, condemning those HUMAN CHILDREN to starvation, twice as painful as any abortion, at least. Your nice, white, American toddlers have 50 dollar toys to play with while not 50 miles from your home a grown man is homeless.

Human life is what we want it to be, exactly. You all claim human life is sacred and precious, but only here, only in the town where you live! Saving lives is important, but only if it's as easy as harassing teenagers outside abortion clinics.

    You people make me ill.
