Question:

Proco Turbo Rat (effects pedal) causing hum from guitar amp?

I've got a Roland Cube 20x and a Epiphone G400 guitar, i'm using a Proco Turbo Rat distortion effects pedal and when I turn on the effects pedal I get humming from the amp, which gets louder and louder if I turn the volume up on the pedal.. I'm not sure whats causing it, I can turn the volume up on my amplifier to max and not get any hum at all.

Anyone know what the problem could be? its not the battery, i've just bought a brand new one for it.

  1. well, not to be a douchebag, but you could try getting a less crappy amp?  roland is a great company, but they sure went down the tube with those cubes.  except the microcube, i love that baby.  anyhow, the proco has alot of gain, which is why noise bands like the locust and shoegaze bands like the smashing pumpkins use them.  whats making it hum is the gain in the pedal, but not the level boost (volume) on the amp.  you can either just turn down the gain on your pedal, get a noise suppressor, or run it through a decent tube amp like it was made for.  the proco is designed to go through a tube amp and amp up the preamp levels to overdrive it in a really weird fuzzy way.  thats why it sounds like c**p with a roland
