Producer to make things tough for opponents in Dubai Duty Free Cup at Newbury
Producer is all set to produce more good results after showing a wonderful performance at the group level. Richard Hannon’s 3-year-old was a classic winner in the Group 3 Greene King Supreme Stakes at Goodwood last month.
Despite a poor start, Producer displayed an excellent act to make himself prominent. He showed good progress in the final furlong, and ran on to lead near the finishing line. A splendid finish helped him outsmart the 11-4 favourite, The Cheka, by half a
length.
After ensuring a classy win at the top level, the colt is full of spirit. So, one can easily expect him to deliver a fascinating performance in the Dubai Duty Free Cup (Listed Race), to be held at Newbury on Friday, September 21, 2012.
Producer has the ability to do well at the top levels. He started off this season with a decent act in a similar contest in April. Newmarket’s Listed race saw him finishing third behind Stipulate.
Even though he was unable to challenge the leading duo, a good effort helped him gain momentum. He utilised the best of his skills at the start of June, when winning a Listed event at Epsom.
In the Investec Surrey Stakes, the 2-1 favourite gave his rivals no chance whatsoever. He joined the leader a few furlongs before the wire and with the help of an extra effort, surpassed him just before the final furlong.
Consequently, an easy 3¾-length win came to his credit. Having produced good results at the higher level, the J. Palmer-Brown-owned should not find this outing much difficult.
On good to firm, he will meet 10 horses. The class 1 contest has a cash prize of £18,714. The officials at Newbury will start the 7-furlong event at 16:50 GMT.
Out of others, Van Ellis seems to be the one to watch out for. Mark Johnston’s charge was not impressive on his latest Group 2 outing, but has a good record under his belt. The 3-year-old son of Shamardal won a Listed race at Chester last month.
I’m So Glad is another dangerous runner, but we don’t expect her to fire after an embarrassing loss at Doncaster. According to our calculations, Van Ellis is the biggest threat to Producer. The latter, however, is expected to tackle all dangers to taste
success.
