Producing colored foals out of overo paint mare?

want to breed my overo paint mare she is mostly white and i want to have a colored foal ive heard of getting a lethal white if i dont breed her right so what should I breed her to to get most chance of a color foal i dont know if she is homozygous either please help!

  1. You must understand genetics and only breed to a horse that has been tested with a know genetic pattern.

    Genetic testing is usually done using a sample of mane or tail hair.

    The overo pattern has been linked to something called the OLWS or Overo Lethal White Syndrome. When you breed two frame parents the baby has a 25% chance of being homozygous for the frame gene. A birth defect is inextricably linked w/this gene site and causes death in the foal - usually w/in a week. (It's been a long time since I've read any of this so my time table might be a bit off)
