What is the best arguement you can think of for producing more than 200 F-22 fighters and selling variants to selected allies? As well as keeping the F-35 on schedule?

  1. nooo waay. You're going to have riot when US starts to sell F-22.

Because as soon as you sell the F-22, OUR f-22 are basically very expensive but beatable weapons. You remove the advantages the engineers designed into that plane. It's like downgrading A f-22 into a f-15. A few f-22 is still better than 500 f-22s that can be beat by other f-22s. It's a no-brainer. It's like dropping a dollar to pick up a quarter.

alliances change. You cannot predict which allies will become enemies later on.

the F-35 will be on schedule because more foreign countries like Canada are making the parts.

  2. The world is a dangerous place, and it's really nice to be able to decisively destroy the bad guys.

Knowing that their air force will be destroyed with ease, will serve as an excellent deterrent.

  3. If the F-22 is supposed to replace the F-15, we will need more than 200 of them. Even though the F-22 is better than the F-15, we still need enough F-22's to cover world wide events. If you count the training aircraft in the numbers, 200 is not enough. Also, a lot of the F-22 construction methods are similar to the F-35's. Keeping the production line open until the F-35 is ready for full production keeps those workers happy and efficient.

  4. the F-22 is too expensive for most of our allies heck it's almost too expensive for us. The F-35 on the other hand is going to the brits and us. It is also being looked at by all the nations that use the Harrier as a replacement for there aging planes. As far as I know there is no conflict between the two programs. the F-22 is for the air force as a F-15 replacement I am sure if countries like Japan and Israel want the F-22 to replace there F-15's they will buy them. The F-35 is the replacement for the F-16/F-14/Harrier/F-18 in foreign service.
