Hi there,

I want to design an experiment, which makes use of immunofluorescence to detect a protein of interest. My problem is, how can I produce this primary antibody, as it is not commercially available.

Thanks for help!

  1. You will obtain your primary antibody by injecting your antigen into a host animal (often a rabbit is used) and then harvesting the plasma and performing a separation to obtain the globulin fraction of the plasma which contains your antibody.  There are procedures for doing this and you should be able to find a researcher at your University that can help you with the process.
