Products brands that support environmental and social causes...?

Question

i heard that these products are more likely to sell. for example, poland spring going green, pepperidge farm supporting Go Red For Women.

is this true? if so does anyone have a site or source to back it up?

Clif bar supports an environmental organization (they have a website-I don't have a Clif bar handy). Many other organic/natural products support causes, including the "free trade" cocoa and coffee movements.
