I am 14 and I really want flawless skin, and i don't have bad skin, and i definitely do not have acne.

It's just that when i get blemishes, they tend to be very stubborn, and don't clear up quickly.

Are there any Cleansers or Scrubs...or anything that you recommend?

What about this Neutrogena Acne Stress Control?

Opinions?

I know about Proactive, but i want that to be my "if all else fails" option.

Thanks guys

  1. dont try proactive if you dont have bad skin because what it does is that it will work but if u stop using it then ur skin will be worse so they make u continue using it so u will keep on buying their product.. thats y when u first buy it, they keep em coming every few months or so...

i think u should just get some kind of a spot treatment since ur skin doesnt seem to break out often and all over. You barely have acne so u shouldnt even use a product, because some products can actually irritate ur skin and make ur skin dry/oily and make acne occur, thats wat happened to me. i would suggest just drinking more water, dont use makeup unless its necessary, and stop touching ur face. (thats a biggie)

For products. i loveee neutrogena, they have really nice products.

their oil free acne wash is good, so is the fresh foaming cleanser..

i think all neutrogena products are very good (:

  2. I am using the Neutrogena Advances Acne Control System that they say is even better than Proactive and it has been working great for me. Even though I still have some red spots from acne scars, the texture of my face has improved tremendously in just one week! Plus, it's only $20 and it's 2 months worth of product.

  3. OMG! I am EXACTLY like you. I just started using products actually, I'm 14. I didn't before because my skin wasn't too bad, like you said. But still, I wanted it perfectly clear. I used the Clean and Clear Acne Control Kit. It comes with a cleanser, a moisturizer, and a little acne fighting cream thing. You are supposed to use the cleanser and moisturizer 1-2 times a day, and the little tube put ONLY on a pimple, and it shrinks fast! Just read the directions that come with it! I try to use them twice a day, but if I am in a rush, I use soap and warm water. Always use something everyday!

  4. proavtice doesnt work

    and acnefree doesnt either

use neutrogenas oil free acne wash daily scrub

  5. There's clean and clear morning burst scrub, clean and clear spot treatment, that usually helps it in one day. And clean and clear continous control acne cleanser.

  6. Spectro-Jel.

I use spectro-jel all the time and it works SOOOOOOO

well. Your acne won't go away right away you have to use it for about a week then you'll notice everything is clearing. I promise it works.

    Good luck. : )

  7. A cheaper alternative to proactive is AcneFree 4-step skin repair. Also, I swear by Cetaphil cleansers.

  8. there is something that i use that you can get from a doctor. im sorry that i don't know what it's called, but all i have to do is take a q-tip dip it in the bottle, and apply one dab onto my pimple and its seriously gone the next day.

you could ask your doctor i fthere is something they recommend or something you can get, or ask a dermatologist.

  9. First off I'd just like to say that from people that I've talked to I've heard that Proactive doesn't work that well as they say in the commercials. Some people even find that their skin worsens.

I think you should use Clinique Acne Solutions Face Wash and Toner. My mom bought it for me and it works really well on getting rid of my blemishes. I would highly recommend it if you have sensitive skin because it's very gentle and doesn't dry out the skin. It's a little bit priceyer than the stuff you would get at the drug store but it's totally worth the money. If you are going to purchase it, buy full the set and you'll save more money than just buying 1 item.

If all else fails I would really recommend going to see a dermatologist. They'll prescribe you with something that you can't get at a store. When I had really bad acne I went to my dermatologist and she prescribed me some cream and it worked faster than anything I had tried before. Now when I just get little blemishes or breakouts I use the same cream after washing my face and it goes away super fast!

    Hope I helped! :)

  10. just try proactive

  11. I've been using Neutrogena's Oil Free Acne Wash and Clear Pore Astringent. They make my face really soft ha. And it seems to clear up my acne pretty well.

  12. i use garneir nutritionist nurti-pure microbead cream scrub. it works and doesnt burn or smell bad.

  13. ya use neutrogena acne stress control i bet it really works!!

  14. well it realy depends on your skin type.

but i had horrible acne when i was like 12 and

i used about 8 diffrent products some helped a bit.

But then i just got proactive and it helped alot.

I'm 14 turning 15 soon and i have no acne now.

Proactive helped me but the only problem with it

is that you haveto keep using it for like 2 years, or

until it stops working because your skin gets used to it.

  15. I am a Registered Nurse and I specialize in skin care and teen acne.

After 12 years in this profession I find that most of my patients who deal with acne or brekout problems DO NOT SEE RESULTS from commercial products sold at drung stores or the mall. They usually contain too much benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid or sulfur which tends to OVER DRY the skin and cause itching or irritations.

Also, home remedies such as lemon juice or alcohol or toothpaste SHOULD NEVER BE USED because they cause small tears in the skin and leave the skin more susceptible to bacteria that causes pimples or acne.

Your question is very broad and you need to get professional advice. I will explain why it's a broad question!

Your age plays a role! Do you always have breakouts?

However, acne can result from several factors such an increase in hormone levels. In males testosterone or androgens. In females, androgens respectively. The increase in androgen levels can stimulate the oil glands to become enlarged and thus more oil production is produced. An increased oil production can clog the pores with oil or sebum ( white thick substance) which cause the cell walls of the pores in the skin to breakdown. This process allows bacteria to form and thus breakouts develop.

Genetics may also be a cause. It is a myth that greasy food or chocolate causes breakouts.

However, using make-up sponges that are not changed or washed often can contaminate the pores with bacteria which may develop into acneic breakouts.

Teenagers going through hormonal and growth changes are prone to acne.

If you have severe breakouts than you might need medication. There are many factors.

The most important thing is that you need products that are AGE APPROPRIATE! Every age group has different products appropriate for them. If you are young than you need milder products as to not dry out your beautiful young skin.

The problem with commercial skin products is that they are manufactured for MASSES OF PEOPLE and are not specifically made for different peoples' needs.

Your skin type is different than mine and your age differs from mine so how is it logical that we both use the same skin product for breakouts. We need different strengths of cleansers and toners. Do you kind of understand what I am getting at?

Here is my STRONG SUGGESTION for you. I refer all my students and patients to this website:

    www.aboutyourskincare.com

You need to consult with professionals and on this website YOU CAN ASK QUESTIONS FOR FREE AND A SKIN EXPERT/PHYSICIAN WILL ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS. It would be a shame if you dont take advantage of this free service.

Lastly, they have incredible products for breakouts and they make them specifically for every kind of skin type. That means that if your breakouts are more severe than mine, than while we both will buy the same product yours will have stronger ingredients than mine will.

They have a mild glycolic acid cleanser that's great for your type of skin and also a DRYING LOTION ( I have 3 bottles) that you put directly on your breakouts and the next day it's gone. It's truely magic in a bottle.

A basic guideline for properly taking care of your skin is this ( now if you're a young girl you will need fewer products than this):

    Night time:

    1. Exfoliate the skin

    2. Mild Glycolic Acid Cleanser

    3. Mild Glycolic Acid Toner ( cleans off the excess debris and balances the PH level of the skin).

    4. Drying Lotion used only on breakouts

    5. Moisturizer

    Morning:

    1. Mild Glycolic Acid Cleanser

    2. Moisturizing cream

The above is a standard you may need to only use one or two products. Visit: www.aboutyourskincare.com

As I suggested and click on the ASK FOR FREE section send them an email and you will get free expert skin care advice.

    Good Luck to you,

    Michelle
