I'm 15 years old and I want to become a professional actor I know it's not easy but i'm up for the challenge ;) I also heard that you could go years without a single agency being interested in you. I've heard a lot of negative things such as only 1 in a million people will get their big break. My grandparents and aunts say that I can't act. I've had my share of mental scares in the past and it's left me feeling vulnerable, weak, mislead and nervous. I'm not good at acting though I know my weaknesses and what I need to improve on. I'm antisocial at school and get constant verbal abuse at school of people calling me a ****** and g*y and stuff (truthfully im unsure about my sexuality). So yeah im pretty freaked up. What must I do?

  1. Nothing your a weakling and you'll never amount to anything in life.

Your viewed as an outsider your different than the rest of us and you'll never perfect acting as I have :)

Oh and agency's aren't too fond of the f/a/g/g/y/'s just so you know.

  2. First of all, don't let anyone tell you you cannot act. Don't let anyone ever tell you you can't become famous. Sign up for a class (school or studio) and don't be afraid to try your best. I've found that if I don't give it my all, I look more stupid than I would have before. Once you are confident with  your acting, find local talent agencies and set up an audition. If they all turn you down, so what? You weren't what they were looking for, and that the business. Just keep practicing (checking out a book, looking up things on the internet, youtube instructional videos, SCHOOL THEATER HELPS A LOT!) And just don't give up.

Also, try making a friend at school. School theater is where I made a lot of them. Or join a club. There are always people who will be your friend. And even if your not sure about your sexuality, it's all right. A lot of people your age start changing and become unsure.  And if it turns out your g*y, then thats who you are and don't let anyone put you down for it. (Elton John did just fine!)

    Good luck to you!

  3. Start looking in your community for auditons with local theatre groups and start trying out. You do not need to have an acting class to become an actor...experience is the best teacher.

And don't worry about being "different"...the theatre community is very open and accepting!!!!!!! Good Luck!
