Professional Opinion: Is It safe to wear contact lenses if you're 15?

I want to, but my parents say it will damage my eyes in the long term. Can i have a professional opinion please, with an informed decision?

will it really damage my eyes?

if so, what age can i where them?

if your really careful with them they'll be fine, but i'd wear glasses.

It depends on how mature you are.  There are some adults in contacts who shouldn't be because they won't take care of them just to save a buck.

Contacts can be prescribed to children as young as  8 if they are mature enough to use them properly. Hard contacts are sometimes prescribed to help slow the progression of myopia and my daughter had her first contacts at 12 for this very reason. Contacts today are very safe and comfortable and 15 is most definitely old enough.

Contacts won't damage your eyes as long as you are mature enough to take care of them right , and follow the rules of hygiene and wearing time.

Which is funny because probably 25% of adults who wear them don't take care of them right.

Many 10 - 16 year olds wear them with great success.
