Question:

Professional Web Hosting For Advertising Website?

For someone looking to start a site that generates a good portion of it's revenue from referral, banner ads, point to click, etc.....what's a good web hosting plan to get started with?

I plan on blogging, so make sure you don't mention Yahoo, who frowns on 'obscene language'. Any suggestions? So far I'm thinking of going with NetworkSolutions.

  1. Hi, good question...

For me, I have used these guys for the last few years: http://hurleypix.com/blue  - to host my blogs, which earn income from Adsense, advertising, ebook sales, etc.

Always had excellent service from them. (About $6-7 per month). The best thing though is their help desk. Anytime you have a query or question just click on through to their live help and you'll usually get the answer you need. :)

That's been a life saver for me, being a non-tech orientated guy. :) They also offer unlimited domains so that's a nice touch if you're thinking of building more websites in the future...

There's also another web host that's a little different in that they are powered by green energy (wind and sun).

Anyway, that's just a couple of ideas to help you out. I also recommend that you look into WordPress. It's a great blogging tool, and comes with some great templates. I'm sure you already know about this anyway... :)

Any other questions let me know. :)

    Martin

  2. I recommend Dreamhost http://www.dreamhost.com/hosting.html

    They're the best:

    1. You get a free domain from them (actually 2 if you use the promo code, more about that later), or you can use one of these free domains to transfer your existing one to Dreamhost, and extend its' registration for one more year, all for free of course.

    2. They have 500 GB of Disk Space

    3. 5TB (5000 GB) of Bandwidth

    4. You can use their huge Disk Space and host unlimited number of sites on a single account.

    5. Their price is $119.40/year ($9.95/month if you pay yearly)

    6. Which is a pretty standard price but they currently have a promotion:

Use the Promo Code: PLUS (at sign up page) and get a $50 discount + 2 Free Domain Names

    7. This way you get them for $69.40/year ($5.78/month) including 2 Free Domain Names!

    P.S. If you're willing to pay $20+/monthly for a webhost I recommend:

    1. http://www.mediatemple.com

    2. http://www.slicehost.com

  3. Honestly, It is just not worth it to go with any one site without doing your research first on the vast field of web hosting. You should consider going to http://www.hostgumbo.com ... There you can view an up to date pricing and incentives comparison chart for the top 2008 web hosting companies, starting at $3.96 per month with free for life domain names. Plus HostGumbo contributes $30 (cash in your pocket) to the cost of your hosting plan when you choose your web host.

    I personally prefer http://www.hostgumbo.com/webhostingpad.h... ... they offer:

    - Unbeatable Pricing at only $3.96 per month with their new promotion

    - 99% uptime

    - Unlimited GB Disk Space

    - Unlimited GB Bandwidth

    - Free Domain for life!

    - Free Ad Credits, $25 Google and $30 Yahoo!

You can use the ad credits to advertise your site so people will be able to find your site.  Feel free to email me if you have any questions. That is what i am here for.

  11. I would be happy to tell you about the one I use. However, I strongly encourage you to explore many options. Compare hosts side-by-side. First comparing feature-by-feature then dollar-for-dollar. Using this process will help you to find the best match and get the most value for your money.

The host that I use is a great example that you can use in your comparison if you'd like. http://find.sitesell.com/UnstoppableDrea...
