Professional Women - Has having a baby affected your career?

It could have affected it negatively, positively, not at all. I am looking for good solid examples, really interested to know how you all feel.

I worked for a huge financial company (and loved it!) when I got pregnant with my first child, I had intended to go straight back to work after my leave but I gave it up as I had really bad depression (shock of having a child!!!!) and didn't go back. 10 years later I'm still not working (through choice though). So Yes, having a baby did affect my career.

I was a nurse , had a good job, quit when I had my kids 'cause my hubby works away from home. I was unable (and didn't want to) work the shifts that nursing commands, plus I didn't want my kids to be raised by grandparents & child minders.

On reflection after I'd quit I don't know how or why I did the job for as long as I did.
