Well, i'm having some professional photos taken in about a week and i am excited, i'm just very nervous. I'm mainly worried about my clothes (i have to have at least three different outfits to choose from) because i don't think i'm very good at choosing the right clothes.

Its a photo shoot as a treat from my mum, and cost quite alot of money, so i'm really scared i may s***w it up.

Its all done by real professionals so they know what they are doing- its just a worry that i won't be the best person they ever had to deal with because of my lack of experience etc..

I'm not a very smiley person either so i'm crapping myself that i'm going to end up looking miserable. I get very worried when i do anything new so have to copious amounts of alcohol beforehand.

What do you suggest? do you have any experience?

  1. Whatever you do, do not drink first!  Your eyes will look fuzzy and you really will end up with bad photos!   Just relax, and you should do fine.

  2. As it's a treat for your Mum, why not ask her advice about what to wear as I'm sure she'll know what you look best in. Professionals will be used to dealing with nervous models and they'll do their best to keep the session as informal and relaxing as possible. They will probably take a variety of shots, smiling and non-smiling so don't worry about having to smile all the time and please don't overdo the alcohol though one drink might help your confidence a little. Another thing you could do is pop in to the studio and have a chat with them earlier so you wont feel they are total strangers when you go for the shoot, hopefully that'll help you feel a little bit more relaxed about it all.

  3. don't worry about smiling and ask the photographer(s) to help you pick your outfit(s), they are professionals kid they do understand and will be very helpful.

really don't worry about smiling, some of the best portraits are of people who are not smiling or expressing any real emotion,

methinks once you get there and start to relax you will start to have some fun and probably will smile just fine anyway.
