Professor and Steeler to fight for victory in Peter Willett Stakes
Professor and Steeler are set o lock horns in the Peter Willett Stakes (Registered As The Stardom Stakes) (Listed Race) at Goodwood in England on Tuesday, September 4, 2012. Both have got impressive speed and will give a tough time to each other in the 7
furlong race, which is scheduled to start at 16:05 GMT.
There are some other decent contestants attracted towards the class-1 event, which has a cash prize of £14,178 for the winner. However, they will find it extremely difficult to match the quality of the top two favourites.
Although, Steeler has not participated in a lot of events, yet his performances have been really impressive. This is why the bookmakers have shown immense confidence in his abilities. He will enter the race with a starting price of 8 to 11, which suggests
that he is expected to walk away with a comfortable victory in the end.
The young colt has only appeared in three races, winning one of them whereas finished as a runner up in the remaining two. This goes onto show that how much competitive he can be because of his consistency.
Importantly, the Mark Johnston’s trainee brought up the only victory of his career at Goodwood. He has got some good memories from this venue and will be full of confidence heading into today’s race.
Although, things appear to be quite positive for Steeler, yet he will not find it easy to bring up the second victory of his career. He will have to battle hard against someone like Professor, who has the ability to take the top spot comfortably.
The two-year-old colt has been given a general starting price of 11 to 2 and will definitely attract a few bets in his favour. He was unable to make a strong impression in his most recent outing, but has the ability to bounce back today.
The Richard Hannon’s trainee made his first appearance in July this year and was rated as the outright favourite to succeed back then. He did not have any trouble at all and stormed to the top by a comprehensive margin of 3¼ lengths.
A similar effort will definitely see Professor fighting for victory once again. His partner will be veteran rider, Richard Hughes.
