Question:

Professor cheating! What to do?

I'm pretty upset because I noticed that one of my professors, during a test at a respectable university, was walking around the room giving away answers. I feel like I deserve my good grade, while others received THE SAME GRADE by getting the answers from the prof. I am a moral person, and I believe that this is wrong, and I feel I am the one being cheated. I am hesitant to bring this to the prof for fear of a bad grade. I don't dislike this prof, I just don't want this to happen again. Would I be wrong to wait until the class has ended and approach the department head? What to do?

  1. Don't go to the prof... go above him/her.  Ask that you stay anonymous so that your grade cannot be hurt.  I wouldn't tell anyone else in the class you are doing this though.  Good luck!!!

  2. I wouldn't even bother discussing this with the prof. Go straight to the department head, or the dean.

  3. You need to speak directly with your professor.  At this point it is your perception vs. his account of what happened.  Going to the department head with no "hard evidence" will not go anyplace.  Talk to your professor now.  No, don't wait until the end of the class.  When you speak to him/her don't be defensive, simply share your perceptions.  (college professor)

  4. Not wrong at all in my opinion to report the professor to the department head. DO IT!
