  1. I've had bipolar students, students with mild autism, and students with Tourette's over the years, and I would have been grateful for a student who was quiet but looked angry.  The problem with students with mental illnesses is that they are often very disruptive, yet because even if you as the professor know why, you can't say anything to the rest of the class, who become increasingly annoyed at both the affected student and at you, because they think it is just a behavioral problem and you aren't controlling it!

Is this student's schizophrenia effectively controlled with medications?  If so, there is no reason for the professor to do anything.  If not, I would call the counseling center for advice.  I'm not a psychologist and don't claim to be one, so I don't know the best way of handling each student with mental illnesses, but fortunately there are people on campus who are trained to do just that and can serve as resources to me.

  2. Give example of how they are behaving? Cause each situation could be different!!!!!!! But I would definitly be careful!
