I have a Takamine acoustic guitar and I'm starting to give up because the thing is sooo hard to fret. My grandpa its not good to start with professtional but its all i have. And when i press harder my fingers hurts like h**l. Also any websites with good lessons i only know like 4 chords. Also are stratocasters good electrics to start with because i think i'm getting one of those for really cheap and my friend told me to hurry and buy it before somebody else did. Anyway what can i do for inspiration? I really want to learn but its sogodamn hard!!

  1. Hi Rio

Don't get discouraged and if you get the electric, it will be easier to play. i would suggest to put .009 extral light gague onthe Takamine. That will relieve some tension and the fingering will be very easy and much much less painful. Day and night situation.

Takamine is a very good guitar, nice finish and nice sould. I think you have medium strings which is hard to play even for an experiences Guitar player.

Here is a sight for scales to learn. you will love this site.

  2. shouldent be, actually a good Japanese copy of a Martin,(US) may need the neck adjusted, quite easy to do it you know what your doing, as far as the strat(US) goes as long as its not a squire your probabaly ok, them junkers are made in China!

  3. Take it to a music store and have them restring it with lighter guage strings.  It may also need to have its neck adjusted. Strings, restringing and neck adjustment shouldn't cost you over $30... more like $15-20 usually.

  4. You may need to have your guitar checked out. Try taking it to a local music shop.

There are many websites online where you can learn guitar at your own pace. Some offer a lot better lessons then others. Check out http://easilyplayguitar.com if you want to find out how you can learn to play the guitar online.

  5. I am not really that familiar with different types of guitars so I don't really know that much about those guitars, sorry. I do know that electrics usually have thinner strings, so it won't be as hard on your fingers. Are you just starting out? Guitar is going to be painful on your hands when you start out, but it will get better. Try to search for songs on youtube there are many great free lessons there and its good because you can actually see the lesson. And yeah I know guitar is really, really hard! Especially with acoustic. Just practice  a little.  I am pretty bad at guitar, because I don't really practice that much. But I am sure you will be fine with a little practice. Maybe just focus on learning one really easy song till you master it.
