  4. William John Jones was born in Cefneithin in 1894 and educated at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Carmarthen and Carmarthen Training College.

    Served in the army in World War One, returning to teach at Cefneithin village school. He stayed there throughout his career, retiring as Headmaster.

    Played rugby for Carmarthen Quins before moving to Llanelli. He was a member of the Llanelli team that lost 3-8 to New Zealand on 2 December 1924. This was the first match between Llanelli and New Zealand. He was capped (for the only time) in 1924 for Wales against Ireland.

    At Cefneithin, he was attributed with being an early mentor of both Carwyn James and Barry John.

    He died at Llanarthney in 1978 at the age of 84.
