Question:

Progesterone cream while ttc

I miscarried at 5weeks about 2 weeks ago. I keep hearing and reading about progesterone cream and am debating on weather or not I should use it. My Mother had to be put on prog. supositories throughout all of her pregnancies. It was my first m/c and pgncy. My dr said as soon as I get pregnant again they'll start monitoring my levels, but will using the cream do any harm now?

  1. No the cream won't harm you now, but you must NOT take it until after you have confirmed ovulation (normally 3dpo is the best time) because if you've not ovulated you'll mess the entire system up. However, from personal experience, I can tell you that the cream is very good at totally s******g with your hormones. I was a wreck. It did lengthen my luteal phase a few days, which is what I was after, but the pain and misery wasn't worth it. My OB suggested a suppository instead which is much better and fewer symptoms. But first, get your doctor to do a CD21 progesterone blood test (sometimes they'll want to do a 7,8,9dpo test and average out the three results) so you know if you really do need the progesterone or not. Better to have some medical data before you go into this. If your doctor seems unhelpful, you should definitely seek other advice. Good luck!
