Progesterone level question?

I am on day 10 and my progesterone level was 0.5. I have 2 good follicles which will be ready by Sunday we think. Isn;t that progesterone level on the low side? How much can they change over the course of 2 days? Also, I am taking Femara, could that have an effect?

  1. Your body does not produce progestrone until you ovulate.  0.5 is low, but that is good because it means you have not ovulated yet.  Once you ovulate it should go up if it was a good ovulation.  W/o meds doctors like it to be 10 or above.  With meds they look for 15 and up.

    Good luck!

  2. Progesterone is not produced in higher amounts until after ovulation.  Usually it is done at about 7 days after suspected ovulation for an accurate result.  I think it is ok that it is .5 right now.  During my treatment cycles mine progesterone was over 40 each cycle that I ovulated.  I think it is just too early.  Good luck on the follicles growing!!!  Are you using a trigger shot as well?  Best wishes!!!

  3. You will probably have your progesterone tested again 7 days after ovulation and that's the number you're most interested in. The first half of your cycle is high in Estrogen, the second half in progesterone, which is made by the part of the follicle that breaks off from the egg (the corpus luteum). It pumps out progesterone for about 12-14 days and if implantation occurs, then it keeps making progesterone. If not, then it dies off and AF arrives. Look for levels above 10.
