Prognosis of taking 0.1% w/v Steriodal Eye drops?

Diagnosed Anterior Uveitis both eyes and prescribed dilatory drops and Maxidex (steriod) drops.

Have to take steriod drops several times a day and dilatory once.

Worried about Steriod drops ....

  1. A single bout of uveitis is not an indication to get massive amount of lab work done.  Repeated bouts, sure, then go for an x-ray and blood work.  

    As far as your drops go, steroids can cause an acute rise in intraocular pressure, so be sure you see your doctor when they told you to.  Long term use can cause cataract formation, but I wouldn't worry about that if you're only on them for a couple weeks.


  2. Did they do bloodwork, a chest x-ray and a TB test?  do they know why you have Uveitis?  These are more pressing questions at first, But if I was given the choice of steroid drops or possible blindness, I would choose drops every time
