Program VOL/MUTE on bose stereo for universal remote?

ok i have a direct tv remote and i programed it to my bose stereo . I can turn it on and off. It said I had to program it so that i could change the volume. I had to put in the code 993 but it doesnt seem to work.

If it has more than one code listed for bose, try the other ones and see if they work.  Some manufactueres use the same signal to turn on and off more than one piece of equipment, whereas the rest of the functions are different signals.

Some remotes also let you program the volume separatly from other controls.  Check your manual to see if that is the case and follow the directions it gives if it is.

I would call DirecTV (1.800.directv) and complain. They might send you an updated remote that works, for free.
