Program to cut songs

ok so i compete in dance and they have a song time limit no more than 3 minutes. i need a program i can use to cut songs, i tried audacity and a few others but they won't import the song file type i use. i tried downloading all different types of the song but none of the programs support the file types i have no clue what to do.

ok so, you first need to downlaod a converter to convert the file format then use adudacity to edit,

Wavepad works well and I think there is a free version, not the professional one.

You can either type in Wavepad.com or NCH software.  I like it a lot and there is other software you can use as well.
