Question:

Program to help measure or cut holes?

I am looking for a program that will help me measure and point out the diameter of a hole. Say that I have a 8 inch wide box and want to put a hole in the center or 1/4 the way. It should draw a circle with the diameter marked and I can print and just drill on the paper through the wood I'm using. Thanks.

  1. OH, so now we need a computer to figure out how to make a hole. Just X it out,OK, and use or make a compass to scribe a hole, yes,put the sharp part in the middle of the X.---OK, sorry. I'm a hands on type.

  2. I use Corel Designer 11 for that.

Making templates like that makes it really easy to cut out stuff.

Using a compass costs less if all you want to do is find the center of a circle or hole.

You can actually do this in Microsoft Word. Open Word, and right click a toolbar, and click on Drawing, which will put up the Drawing toolbar.

Right click the circle icon, and use it to draw a circle. Any size circle. Then double click the circle and a 'Format Auto Shape' dialogue box will come up, In 'Size' tab tell it the height and width you want (they'll probably be the same unless you want an oval). You can also put a second one there on top of it, and then go to Align and center them together.

    Good luck.
