Programming my remote ewf2006 code?

i have looked everywhere and tried every code.... please give me detailed directions to program my comcast dvr 3 device remote to my emerson ewf2006 tv....im blonde so i need help :)

Turn on a device (e.g., TV or DVD ) . On the remote control, press a device key once ( TV).  Press and hold Setup until the selected mode key blinks twice, then release Setup.  Locate the code for your device. Enter the first five-digit code for your device. If you perform this procedure correctly, the selected mode key will blink twice. Aim the remote control at your device and press Power once. The device should turn off. If it does not respond, repeat steps  trying each code listed for your brand until you find one that works.

The universal remote code should be specific for the Emerson brand. Does it change channels at least? Volume?
