Programming phillips univ remote for symphonic tv?

Question

I've tried everything that I see online and I'm able to "code search" until it changes the channel, but after that...nothing! Once the channel changed I tried to hit "mute/ok" button to save the code...but it won't work. 0171 doesn't work either. Once the code is found in code search...how do you make the remote save it/work?? I hate to buy a new remote...but nothing seems to work. Thanks for any help!

A good place to check for remotes/remote codes would be www.remotes.com.  They have a lot of great information regarding remote codes, and how to fix dead remotes.
