Programming tv with existing remote i have

problem with programming tv as far as getting it to auto program in cable mode and being able to set up picture controls. when i get into menu i can get to adjustments but like when i get to auto program it will noy find the channels. i can actually put in a channel # like 55 for example and get the cable channel but cannot auto program. so i am set in cable mode. my remote control is an olevia rc-ltl and tv is a 37 inch screen.
