Progressed chart? I still don't get it?

Do I just saw a question of Moondie on progressed chart and I decided to take a look at mine out of curiosity. I think No belief required has a great explanation but I want to see what does it mean for me, because I don't feel like I have progressed into what it shows for me.

If anyone could explain please :)

So I'm still Scorpio rising and most planets are still in their original signs, but the key planets have shifted. My sun is now in Sagittarius, Moon in Gemini and Mars in Aquarius. Normally I'm Scorpio sun Leo moon and Capricorn mars

I'm just curious :)

Thank you!

  1. Hi Devochka:)

I think you've probably become just a little more detached from things which used to bother you a lot. You've developed more perspective and detachment in regards to your emotions...you're still a Leo moon at heart, but you've learned not to take everything quite so personally and dramatically. You've probably become a bit more fickle emotionally too. Progressed Sun in Sagittarius has lightened your approach as well. You likely don't take yourself quite as seriously as you used to. Mars in Aquarius has shifted your attitudes in regards to your sexuality, but also in regards to what motivates you. Mars in Cap is really serious about s*x, Mars in Aqua not so much so really, more detached, again lightening your approach and giving you some perspective. You're also likely more interested in humanitarian concerns than you have been in the past, less driven soley by material and status rewards, more and more driven by what you can do to help the people around you. You're still going to exhibit the qualities outlined in your natal chart, the progressed chart just modifies those somewhat.

So congratulations, Devochka, you are officially mellowing with age, lol.

EDIT: Oh, and btw, you're really going to start noticing this when progressed ascendant is in Sagittarius. It's more like an undercurrent now.

  2. what is a progressed chart?

There are many types of Progressed Charts, but when astrologers refer to Progressed Charts, they usually mean Secondary Progressed Charts. As the Natal (or Birth) Chart shows your promise and potential, the Progressed Chart shows your spiritual unfolding and personal growth. Progressed Charts are used to better understand what motivates you to want to create major life changes. Although your birth chart remains the same, life changes and changes us, and the Progressed Chart describes these changes. It is extremely valuable to compare your current Progressed Chart to your natal chart; it is your inner self showing you how and what it wants to change.

To determine your Progressed Chart, look at an ephemeris (the daily listing of planetary positions), and find the day you were born. Then you then count down a-day-for-a-year for each year of your life, and this is your Progressed Chart. Each line of the ephemeris is a day and each day represents one year of life in your Progressed chart. For example, if you are 20, you count twenty lines (or days) from the day of your birth to find your Progressed Sun and read across to find your Progressed Moon and planets. If you are 30, count 30 lines (or days), etc.

Movement in a progressed chart is different than the movement of a regular chart Since the Progressed chart is calculated using one day for a year of life, the planets move considerably slower. The movement of the Moon is approximately a degree for each month, while the Sun moves about a degree a year. Due to the ecliptic shape of the Earth's orbit around the Sun, the progressed movement is not precisely one degree per year and computer software can make these difficult calculations quickly and precisely. What changes most in a Progressed chart is the Moon, then the Sun, Venus, Mercury, and the house cusps, including your Ascendant and Midheaven, which also progress approximately a degree every year.

By Progression, your planets can also change houses, both within the progressed chart and in comparison to your natal (birth) chart. Planets can also station Retrograde or Direct by progressions and these changes are usually notable in your life.

  3. Hi Devochka

A progress chart means to advance your planet for the number of years you wish to inquire about.

The method most used are the primary directions. Let's say you are 20 yrs old and want to find about about your 21 yrs. You advance the planet at a rate of 1 deg = 1yr of life. You DO NOT ADVANCE THE HOUSES except Asc. and the MC

Secondary progression is the 2nd method. You use 1 day = 1 year of life. Whatever day you are born on, add the number of days to correspond to the nmber of years, then create a birth chart as if you wer born on that date.

Now complare it with your real natal chart.

Then , see if the aspects are repeated in the Primary directions and if yes, then that aspect will be of importance. You really have to knwo about progressions. Progressions just show you the probably event.

TRANSITS will prepare the aspects you have noted and, the MOON will trigger the event and give you the time.

I would suggest you do a Solar Return, lets say for 2008. What you do is you use your birth info, time and your location where you are at present, caculate when the Sun will be at its exact location as that of birth.

Now, you will see a new ASC and where it falls in your natal chart and will reveal what is the most important thing for you for the next 12 months. The MC in the Solar Return and the house it falls in Natal will also reveal about your career. etc...
