Progressive Insurace Car accident question?

I was rear ended earlier today and it messed my bumper and my exhaust up. The guy had progressive insurance and they said that they'd send a claims adjuster out to do an estimate of the damage. Once he is done with the estimate, will he give me a check for that amount, or do I have to take it to a dealership and they will send the check to the dealership.

Let me tell you this way. DO'nt hold your breath. Almost the same thing happoned to me. Thy said thy would send out an a person to check out my car. Never happoned. No one ever showed up and after 10 weeks of calling them and contacting them I got NOTHING I had my car fixed and droped there insurance so fast a humming bird got passes on the way down. GOOD LUCK but I doute you will get anything.

He may offer a check right there....but.... I would go and get my own estimate(s) before the adjuster comes to look at the car just to keep them honest.

The check will be made out to you. Progressive usually writes them on the spot but don't have a cow if more damage is discovered when the vehicle is disassembled. This is perfectly normal and Progressive will reinspect the damages and issue a supplemental check for any additional damages.

Note: you are most likely entitled to a rental (varies by state) so be sure and ask the claims adjuster when he/she inspects your vehicle.

If both parties have called in the claim (you and the person that hit you) , I have seen them pay you pretty quickly.  I have seen totaled vehicles settled in as little as three days!

They pay their claims pretty quick as they don't want attorney involvement!

Give them a couple of days - be sure to ask them for a rent car while your car is in the shop getting repaired.
