Progressive form ?

I 've heard that by adding can/could before the linking verb, the meaning of the verb 'll be changed to progressive.

Is it right ?!

I know that we can't make progressive tense with linking verb for example; I am seeing you is wrong !

I wanna know if I say :"I can see you" it means "I am seeing you" ?

  1. Well, if you say "I can see you" that implies that you are seeing the person at that moment because you CAN do it. So, I suppose that, yes, it does have the meaning of "I am seeing you" (right at this moment) because the subject of the sentence (I) can see the object (you). However, the sentence "I can see you" could also mean other things in other contexts. One example is, "I can see you" as in "I can hang out with you" or something like that. But in general, yes what you are saying is correct.
