Progressive scan vs interlaced scan

whats the difference? i know that progressive scan is better but why?

  1. it's just basically double the horizontal scanning frequency. normal old fashioned NTSC is 15.74Khz, progressive is 31.5Khz


  2. Interlaced means that every other line of horizontal pixels is refreshed simultaneously.

    Progressive means that every line of horizontal pixels is refreshed at the same time.  This is why progressive produces a better picture.
