What role in your company did you first play when you recently graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering? Did you have a field or office job? What were your weekly tasks?

  1. I designed concrete structures, tailings dams and then went out on site to survey for a new fluorspar mine.

    In my experience you need to get both sorts of experience to see which type of work you like and are good at.

    Young designers / consultants do a lot of calculations, whilst site based people get more hands on experience and learn why some tasks are done in particular ways


  2. I have graduated as civil engineer before 36 years, I have started my career as a site engineer , then gradually moved up taking responsibilities of  chief site engineer, construction manager, project manager and now I am an engineering manager,

    there are no fixed weekly tasks but all depends on the project schedule and requirements
