Question:

Project Help! Ideas!?

OKay so I have a Shakespeare project that I am doing and it is going to be on the Fashion during his time. SO for my project I am going to draw the Fashions, give a brief description of it, and show the fabric and also give a history of it.

But these were ideas that had been used before, and I would like to incoperate more ideas into it. Any suggestions.

And I can't make anything because I don't know how to sew.

Any help is appreciated.

  1. Perhaps you could look at movies and tv programmes where shakespearean era costumes have been featured.  (Shakespeare in Love, with Gwyneth Paltrow for example).

Maybe discuss the complexities of the fashions of the day (how much fabric was needed etc) versus the fashions now.  And what fashion items then are still present in some way now?  (Look at bridal magazines for inspiration). Head-dress, accessories etc.

  2. Turn it into an art project. Draw up (or blow up a picture) of the characters and using fabric cut out the area and glue them on the drawing until all the areas are covered in fabric.  3 dimensional illustration.  Do the drawing on a heavy board so it will be firm.

I've done this using different styles and period and it looks really great frames up.
