Question:

Project management jobs in Calgary/Edmonton?

I live in the United Kingdom and have graduate and post-graduate degrees in Business and Management. Currently I work for an international oil & gas company as Project Coordinator which is a technical role. I have experience in Pipeline Engineering/Construction and Primavera (P3), and have gained a diploma in Project Controls through Company’s sponsorship. I have been in this role for 2 years, and now thinking to immigrate to Canada.

I know there’s lots of Engineering and Construction jobs in Canada especially in Alberta, but I’m just wondering if my 2 years experience (and Business based degrees) would be enough to get me a job in Calgary or Alberta, or should I stay in the UK until I get some more technical experience (..considering I want to leave UK asap).

Please can someone also tell me what are the salaries like?

Many thanks

  1. http://www.cic.gc.ca/  is the official immigration website.  If you look under the "skilled worker" section there is a self-test there to see if you have education/experience to qualify for entry but sounds as if you have that in spades.

If you can line up a job from there it will make getting in a lot easier.   Your right that Alberta and Saskatchewan are the hotbeds for jobs in your field. Northern BC as well.

try http://www.monster.ca for general positions in that area or try http://www.suncor.ca/default.aspx?ID=296... they are one of the largest players in the oil fields of alberta
