  1. A friend of mine told me they saw this experiment on Mythbusters and I though it sounded interesting. (I personally didn't see that episode)

The show was about watering a plant with water that had been boiled in the microwave then cooled down.

Then watering another plant with normal tap water.

The experiment was conducted over a few weeks to see what would happen to each plant.

The plant that was watered by the microwave boiled water died and the other plant lived.

Like I said, I didn't see the show but it sounds like an interesting project to do over the summer to see if the same thing happens to one of two plants that are the same

All you need to get is 2 plants in a pot that are the same size and type. Mark one plant "A" and the other "B".

Tap water, and a jug of cold water that had been boiled in the microwave. Then water the plants when they need watering. Now all you have to do is watch and see what happens.

  2. Take day trips and take lots of pictures of anything-people, plants, bugs, animals, clouds-whatever catches your interest. Print the pictures and start a collage. Make it as big or small as you want and don't be afraid of cutting up the pictures so you're only including what you want. Add captions and stickers. By the end of the summer you'll have an awesome piece of art that represents who you are, and every picture will have special meaning to you. It'll be fun to share the thoughts and stories behind it with family and friends.

    Materials needed:

acid-free glue (at any craft store)

    poster board(s)

    printer

    camera

film or a place to print digital photos

  3. Do a 5,000+ piece puzzle and frame it. That took me about half a summer.
