Projecting onto an off-white wall?

Will it be different that onto a white wall? Please expain! First one to answer with any basic info will get automatic best answer.

  1. no, projecting to a darker color like in gray will enhance the contrast and how you see the blacks. but if you have a good contras ratio and good control of the light environment you will be good in white.

  2. Yes.  An off-white wall or even a flat white painted wall will not reflect the projected image as much as a semi-gloss white.

    If your projector is under-powered (lumens-measure of brightness) then a properly reflective screen is a must.

    A screen with a 1.3 db gain is often referred to as ideal for home theaters.
