Projector Air Filers?

Question

I recentally purchased an Epson Powerlite S1 off eBay and it smells like smoke. Is there any way I can clean the air filter or do I have to buy a new one. If I do have to buy a new one any suggestion where to? Also because it smells like somke any suggestions to get that smell out?

Well....I can't recommend you clean it like I do....

I actually disassemble units and run them thru my dishwasher...

Hasn't hurt one yet, but it has to be disassembled enough to wash out the FAN ducting....and if you haven't disassembled one, it can get VERY TOUGH putting it back together...

But what you can do is use WINDEX to clean the outside panels, and SOME of the fan ducting....

That might be enough to remove the smoke smell....

Now, water and cleaners don't hurt electronics, as long as you let it completely dry before applying power...

And stay away from the bulb...those hate fingerprints, and alcohol is the ONLY cleaner I would use on that part....so be careful if you decide to touch it...the glass is the explosive part, not the plastic....

You know why I like the dishwasher overall?  Because several rebuilding companies use dishwashers to wash old boards before refurbishing them.  If they do it, I do it....
