Question:

Projector screen turned back and white.?

I have had an HD color projector (NEC LT265) for about 3 years and it suddenly turned to black and white in color.

Is this a problem with the lamp bulb(even though there is 30% life in the bulb left)

Or is it a problem with the projector itself, because i don't want to get a new bulb and have the same problem.?

or is it something else?

?????????

  1. not a lamp problem as you get a picture.

do the projector menus display in color ? if so the projector is fine, it's either because your source is black and white, the cable has a defect or the projector has a black and white setting that's on.

It could also be that you told it the input is a certain format while it;s another with another type of color encoding (like pal/ntsc)

if you use Svideo cable, the brightness and color are on separate cables, so if color cable is broken you would still get black and white image.

    good luck

  2. 1st, check to see that your picture is black and white from more than one source. Try your cable/sat box and your DVD player. If one gives you color, the trouble is with the other(or its wiring), and not your projector.

2nd, if picture is b&w on all sources, check the projector's menu. Navigate to the video controls and make sure your "color" setting didn't accidentally get set to zero.

3rd, if you are using Component Video to your projector, check to make sure your red and blue cables are connected. Green only will give you black and white.

4th, if none of the above worked, you have an internal problem with the projector. Color information (chromanance) and brightness information (luminance) are processed separately inside the unit and something has gone wrong in the chromanance circuitry. You will need the help of a professional.

    Hope this helps!

    Edit:

Sorry, a lamp cannot cause this symptom.

  3. Check cable. If not fixed try to look for color adjustment. If not you may have a color matrix problem - send to repair shop.
