I have been thinking about putting together a system where my Xbox 360 runs off a projector and i have just recently got a surround sound system too. So i was thinking if i could connect both of them to Projector and what would i need to do it? Also what should the projector have in specs for it to work?

  1. Howdy. You should run all your video inputs to your receiver. Then run one video out from the receiver to the projector. Giving your receiver can do that. For a projector get a 1080i resolution at least. Dont forget the screen makes a big differance also. Ask to demo a projector at a local HT shop. Ask what screen would be good for your application. Cable will cost some moey if long run. Might want a signal booster. Depending on what you can spend , get auto focus if you can swing it. Check reviews on projectors in your price range. Good luck.

  2. First of all most projectors don't come with an interlaced resolution so you're looking at 720p or 1080p and the $$$ difference is about $1000.  If you can afford it then get the 1080p but remember the ONLY thing in 1080p is your Xbox so you won't get 1080p if you use it for regular TV.

As for as specs go make sure of the following at least

    Resolution at least 1280 X 720

    Lumen 1000 - 15000

    Has component or VGA input

Contrast ratio at least 5000:1 or as large as you can get

If you decide to go 720p instead of 1080p then the Optoma HD70 has a good deal right now where you can get one for about $600 after rebate.

Decide what you want and I can help you out
