Prokaryotic organisms??

Question

what technological advance has increased our knowledge about prokaryotic organisms. Can somebody please explain them to me and how we know about them?

Prokaryotes are basically the cells without a distinct nucleus or membrane- bound organelles. Bacteria are the best know and most studied prokaryotic organisms.

We know them from their characteristics when we look at them under the microscope !! =) The technological advance would be microscopy to be able to distinguish features of cells and differentiate whether they are prokaryotic or eukaryotic.

A second group was also discovered which is archaea. It has provided evidence of a third cellular domain of life.
