The $300,000 King's Cup started on the 25th of November and witnessed play slowly beginning to favour Prom Meesawat from Thailand.
The second round of the event at the Singha Park Golf Club ended with Meesawat topping the leader board tied with Tony Carolan.
The golfers from Thailand and Australia managed to grab a shared lead in the 2010 Kings Cup after carding a 67 and a 69 in the end of the second round.
According to Meesawat’s performance in the first two rounds, the achieved lead in the second round has been regarded as a great comeback for the golfer after his injury. The golfer went through a dreadful shoulder injury that lasted
for long 2 years and made him struggle even more than when out on thecourse. The current Championship witnessed Meesawat carding a 67 with a 5 under that made him stand shoulder to shoulder with Carolan. His competitor had been the overnight leader of the
Championship and charged the second round with a 69 from his side. Carolan thus managed to collect a total score of 135 with a collective 9 under to reach the shared position.
As far as the Jbe Kruger is concerned, the South African played a remarkable game of 65 that amazed many. The golfer thus carded one of his best scores from the first two rounds of the event and grabbed 3rd place. The
race also had Panuphol Pittayarat as a contender who gave quite a fight to the other golfers on the field. The seventeen year old golfer grabbed 4th place along with the golfer from Korea, Mo Joong-kyung with only a strokes difference. The Thai
thus shared the lead with the Korean who is a two times Asian Tour Champion.
While Prom Meesawat overcame his shoulder injury, Quincy Quek ignored his wrist injury and recorded a 67. The earlier stated course thus placed the Singaporean golfer tied with Kwanchai Tannin after a total of 138. The Thai and
Singaporean tie was achieved with only a difference of three shots from the leader.
Meesawat played his back nine with 4 birdies and zero bogeys. The 'Big Dolphin' thus followed a calm gaming approach for the win as well as hoping to bring a halt to his four year title deficit.
“I’m glad to be back in form and after the 2 rounds I played, my goal is to continue to fight the course and to see myself getting stronger and stronger”. Meesawat said.
