What's the different from a promise ring and a engament ring?

To me, a promise ring from you man means a promise that you will get engaged someday...My fiance gave me a promise ring whenever we had been dating for 6 months because we were too young to get engaged  ( I was 15 almost 16) and we get engaged on new year's eve this year, because my dad promised we could get married when I was 18... That's just my opinion though... an engagement ring means start planing for the wedding, you know, start getting stuff picked out for the up coming wedding : )

A promise ring is a promise that he will propose one day... in my opinion it is just a way for men to avoid the all feared commitment.

A Promise ring is like it says a promise, but it's a promise to someday propose.  Personally I think promise rings were an idea made up by jewelry companies to make more money.  I'm sure I'm wrong but I think it's kind of redundant, "here's a ring honey, someday I will ask you to marry me, and then I'll buy you another ring."  I say if you gonna ask then ask.

a promise ring can mean many differnt types of promises depending on what you want it to mean

it could mean (most commonly) as promise that oned day a couple may get married

or it could even mean a promise to be loyal to someone wether it be a best friend or a girlfriend/ boyfriend

if you like you could also say that its a prmise to stay a virgin until ur wedding night

thought hat is most commonly called a purity ring

and engagment ring is really only a promise to marry

my boyfriend just bought me a promise ring

it isn't anything big and special

it wasn't expensize (morely becuase i didn't want it to be all expensive)

and i wear it on my left hand ring finger

i could care less how big and pretty it is

im just happy for the fact that he made the commitment to me to be honest and loyal to me and maybe marry me some day =)

i think theirs no diffference between a promise ring and a engament ring..bec it means one thing..if you give it to a girl it means you will marry her in the near future..

a promise ring shows commitment. many take it as a promise to get engaged, but cant right now because they arent ready yet.
